A study of the history and manufacturing of Davenport's electric railway to look at alternative motor design from an era where electricity was not widely used. In this paper, the history of the electric railway is studied, the manufacturing methods used were analyzed, and hardships were considered when recreating this 1830's electric motor design. This motor design is fascinating but is not widely documented, which introduces another challenge to the project as a whole.
