A post-operative model for pain in C57BL/6 mice

Public

Mice have become the most widely used animals in biomedical research. Often, this research involves surgical experimentation resulting in post-operative pain and distress for the mouse. Our objective was to develop a behavioral model that explored post-operative pain through examining different typical mouse behaviors in control mice groups and surgical mice groups. The model showed statistical significance between the animals giving a valid model for future research into analgesic agents to minimize pain.
