Student Work
Quasi-Static and Dynamic Testing of Composite Materials
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe goal of this project was to create experimental tools to introduce the undergraduate students at WPI to the practice of material testing. Two sub-projects were created to capture both static and dynamic testing. For static materials testing, the team designed and constructed a 2000 lbf tensile tester. Force is applied with a linear actuator and measured with a load cell. Strain is measured with digital image correlation. For dynamic testing, the team redesigned and reconstructed an existing incomplete, Split
