Comparison Between Scaffolding and Worked Example in ASSISTment Tutoring System
PublicA comparison between the scaffolding and worked example conditions in the ASSISTment system was performed. A total of nine problem sets were created consisting of scaffolding and worked example conditions from the Patterns, Relations and Algebra section in the MCAS 6th grade (2001-2007) mathematics. The problem sets were then administered at 7 schools, with a total of 153 student participants. The experiment concluded that while both approaches assisted in learning and problem solving, the scaffolding condition was more effective. -
