ASSISTments is a free educational technology tool that allows teachers to post practice problems to students and students to upload their homework images. The tool allows teachers to assign homework assignments that require students to upload images of their work, such as math problems, diagrams, or drawings. This project adds three image-processing capabilities to the tools: blur detection, personal identifying information block, and cropping suggestions. With these image-processing capabilities, the tool can detect if an image is blurry and contains personal identifying information, such as a student's face, and block that information from view. Additionally, the tool can make cropping suggestions to improve the clarity and focus of the image. These features help to ensure the privacy and security of student information while providing teachers with clear, high-quality images to review and assess. Using image processing algorithms in ASSISTments is a valuable addition to the tool, enabling teachers to provide effective and secure online learning experiences for their students.
