The intent of this project was to develop an ankle brace to promote wound healing by providing a mechanism to deliver localized pain relief medication while maintaining ankle stability. The ankle joint is a common location of orthopedic injury. The brace we designed allows for effective, localized drug delivery via a horseshoe resin visualized with a CAD model using Solidworks. Human testing was completed to test our medicated ankle brace against an unbraced ankle. Objectives were tested using goniometric measures for ROM, 2D motion analysis for joint angles and ROM, and Talar tilt for ROM and functional stability. Our brace fulfilled all our objectives and can serve as an effective treatment for ankle injuries.
