This study is concerned with Premolded and field assembled joints for extruded dielectric medium-voltage cables. The focus is a comparison of seven types of cable joints using selected criteria and an Analytic Hierarchy Process. Using interviews of subject matter experts, the criteria and their weights were established, and a model was synthesized. The cold shrink joints were the best overall, and it was recommended that the Pirelli Cold Shrink Joint be chosen as the best solution.
