The mathematics behind voting and democracy

open in viewerTo explore how voting systems were derived throughout the years. To give an insight into how different countries run their election process through examples. Examined the mathematics behind different methods of voting in democracy including: the Plurality Method, the Borda-Count Method, the Single-Transferable Method, the Condoret Method, the Pair-wise Comparison Method, and Approval voting. In order to find the best method, different criteria for Fairness were discussed. Results included Kenneth Arrow's study of how there can never exist a completely fair method.
