TEACHING OF BIOMEDICAL ETHICS TO ENGINEERING STUDENTS THROUGH THE USE OF ROLE PLAYING Public

Many students upon graduation are unprepared to deal with ethical issues presented in their careers. This is despite engineering curricula requiring that the teaching of ethics must be incorporated into a degree program in order to receive accreditation. Prior projects that have been performed by teams on WPI’s campus consisted of a variety of methods that were brought into engineering courses. The problem with these methods was that the engineering students were often unable to fully see the connection between ethics and engineering. The goal of this project was to create an engineering ethics module that would allow students to see the direct connection between ethics and engineering and be more comfortable overcoming ethical dilemmas that may arise in an engineering workplace.
