Establishing a computerized collection management system for the National Museums of Thailand.

open in viewerThe National Museums of Thailand are currently attempting to establish a standard computerized catalog to store their records. Our goal was to assist the museums in this endeavor by establishing a database structure at the Museums of Bangkok and Ayutthaya. We combined the features of two databases from previous standardization attempts with input from the staff and administration of the museums and developed an improved database application that better fits the needs and future plans of the museums. We hosted a training session for museum staff and wrote a comprehensive user manual for our database application. Our project benefited not only the National Museum community but also set the groundwork plans to allow scholars and researchers access to information on museum holdings.
