This project, prepared for Higgins Armory Museum, describes the arms and armor used by the Romans during their republic period (509 BC - 27 BC). We describe the armaments used, the tactics used by them, enough background information to put them in their proper context, and explain why they used what they did when they did. This document is essentially a hardcopy version of the web-based product, which was the primary focus of the project. The primary purpose of the web site is to teach visitors to Higgins Armory and the general public about the military matters of the republican period and their historical context.
