The Five Stages of Grief: A Composition for Brass Ensemble
PublicContenu téléchargeable
open in viewerCountless composers have written music motivated by death and the grieving process. In the same way, I composed The Five Stages of Grief, a five-movement piece for brass ensemble, inspired by the Kübler-Ross Model which was proposed by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, M.D. in On Death and Dying (1969). Each of the stages she described (denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance) functioned as a catalyst in the composition of a movement. Following its completion, the work was rehearsed and by the WPI Brass Ensemble.
