Cloud Motion Vector System (CMVS) to Monitor and Predict Output Power of a Photovoltaic (PV) System in Real-Time

open in viewerA cloud motion vector system that was designed previously by WPI students was analyzed and improved. In the process, many expensive components were made obsolete, and additional features were introduced. A custom PCB was designed to facilitate the use of RJ45 connectors and ethernet cables to connect the sensors to the microcontroller, resulting in a much easier setup, transportation, and storage of the CMVS. Large steps were made towards the creation of a commercially-viable product, but there is still much testing that needs to be done to ensure stable and accurate operation.
