This project investigated the detrimental impacts of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly from power plants, on local communities, with a focus on Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) as a catalyst for change. By examining WPI's sustainability initiatives and their broader implications, we aimed to advocate for actionable strategies to enhance climate communication. Utilizing emissions data from both WPI and external sources like the EPA, our analysis reveals concerning trends in methane and nitrous oxide concentrations, emphasizing the urgent need for robust sustainability measures. We correlate power plant emissions with adverse health effects, highlighting the imperative for proactive mitigation strategies. Our findings emphasize the pivotal role of institutions like WPI in driving sustainability goals and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. Through holistic approaches encompassing policy, technology, and community engagement, we advocate for accelerated efforts to combat greenhouse gas emissions and safeguard public health for a more sustainable future.
