Design and control of a Lorentz Force System

Öffentlich

A mechanical realization of a miniature Lorentz Force System was designed and constructed. The system consists of a series of magnets in an encasing, where a miniature cart runs on two copper rails between the encasing. The dynamic equations of the cart motion were developed. A control scheme was derived to achieve either maximum velocity or predefined position of the cart. The proportional-derivative (PD) controller was implemented using a MATLAB-based design tool along with a real-time data acquisition card.
