UMass Memorial Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program: Preparing for Growth with Data Analysis

Público Deposited

UMass Memorial Medical Center, located in Worcester, Massachusetts, recently piloted a Mobile Integrated Healthcare program, treating older adults in their homes to improve care and reduce patient demand on their overburdened emergency department. Since June 2021, the program has demonstrated great success for both patients and providers; however, as the program looks to expand to more patients and offer new services, there is a crucial need for process evaluation, capacity analysis, and resource scheduling. Our team developed a standardized note, evaluated the current and future capacity of the program through discrete event simulation, delivered a series of simulation results, and developed a tool to efficiently schedule paramedics to meet the program’s growing demand.
