Preserving the Soundscape: Exploring ways to mitigate sound pollution in Acadia National Park
PubblicoContenuto scaricabile
open in viewerThis project, performed within Acadia National Park, assessed sources of noise pollution and provided the park with methods for reducing noise. Based on previous studies conducted by the National Park Service, the project team recorded noise levels in the most popular locations within Acadia, analyzed the resulting data, and identified human voices as the most significant sources of noise. Using this information, the team was able to test a Quiet Zone within the park and in doing so achieved a 26.4% reduction in human noise.
