MassBike provided roughly 100 electric pedal-assist bicycles to individuals with low income residing or working in Worcester during the first iteration of their program. To assist in improving upon the first iteration, the team worked to identify barriers to e-bike adoption and gather data surrounding e-bike adoption and experiences riding in Worcester. The team held interviews with the Worcester Department of Transport and Mobility to ascertain professional views on the state of cycling in Worcester. We also evaluated participants' experiences riding in the city through a focus group setting. The team found many overlapping themes between the data gathered and prior research, allowing the creation of an improved data collection instrument for MassBike based upon the identified themes.
