SUSTAINABLE PAVEMENT DESIGN BY RECYCLING
公开可下载的内容
open in viewerRecycled pavements need to be designed properly so that they can withstand the impacts of moisture throughout their design lives. This project determined the optimum design with respect to moisture damage for Full Depth Reclaimed (FDR) pavements, which consist of recycled base layers and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) surface layers. Eight different designs with different HMA thickness and air voids were evaluated. Samples were subjected to moisture conditioning, and tested before and after conditioning to determine the seismic modulus. The design modulus was then estimated and used to determine the frequency of rehabilitation. The results were utilized to estimate the cost, energy and emissions associated with each of the designs, and the optimum design was determined.
