Optimizing dipole antenna array placement in Falcon-20 aircraft

Public

Sponsored by MIT Lincoln Laboratory, this project aimed to maximize the broadside gain of a two-dipole antenna array by optimizing its placement in a Falcon-20 aircraft. By developing an interface between MATLAB and WIPL-D antenna modeling software, we were able to simulate the location of best gain. We fabricated the model and took antenna range measurements, which achieved good correlation to the simulation results. We demonstrated that the simulations were accurate and our model had achieved the desired gain.
