Design of hot mix asphalt for low volume roads

Public

The goal of this project was to design a strong and durable Hot Mix Asphalt, HMA, for low volume roads. Mixes with two aggregate gradations were tested, and the data was analyzed and compared to determine the best performing HMA. Analysis of air voids, resilient modulus and film thickness data show that a coarse gradation mix with 5.8 percent asphalt content should be used to obtain a strong and durable mix for a low volume road.
