open in viewerThis paper provides a study of a real-time monitoring system that will allow for the continuous monitoring of the corona electrostatic separation process (CES) for the recycling of waste printed circuit boards (PCBs) using a LabVIEW software program. Due to the large demand for electronic products, which contain printed circuit boards, large amounts of electronic waste are generated. PBCs contain precious metals such as gold and silver. The recovery of these metals has proven to be a profitable industry. However, the methods used generate environmental pollution. CES is an environmental pollution free process. However, high voltage breakdown and particle aggregation affect the systems stability and continuous monitoring will allow for the improvement of the existing separation process.
