John Grooms is a non-profit organisation that provides a wide range of services for disabled people, such as job training and employment, rehabilitation services, holiday accommodations, and wheelchair standard housing. The goal of this project was to redesign John Grooms' previous web site in order to increase public awareness, encourage financial support of the organisation through secured online donations, and allow disabled people and their families to learn more about the resources available to them through John Grooms. In order to assure that the redesigned web site effectively represented John Grooms, we conducted focus group sessions with the directors and primary managers of the organisation. The web site was then redesigned with this feedback in mind. Once a working version of the web site had been created, the redesigned site was evaluated by the staff at John Grooms as well as a sample of the organisation's disabled clientele. Modifications were made to the web site based on their recommendations. Upon completion of the web site redesign process, staff members were briefed on updating the web site and a web site-authoring manual was developed as an archival record for future modifications.
