Design and analysis of a concrete office building

Public

This Major Qualifying Project serves to further the educational development of civil engineering students through the design of a three-story reinforced concrete building to be constructed in Worcester, Massachusetts. The primary activities included the complete structural design of building members and analysis into the cost benefits of varying design schemes and structural alternatives such as one-way and two-way slabs. Additional site engineering activities included parking lot planning and design, storm water management, and landscape architecture. This project satisfies capstone design as it exhibits knowledge and practice of a variety of engineering skills including design, synthesis and cost estimating.
