Rotation device for snowboard bindings

Public

A need has developed for snowboarders to rotate their front foot, allowing for ease of mobility on flat terrain and ski lifts. Four designs were proposed and compared with each other and the initial design constraints. The final design consists of two circular plates. The bottom plate is fixed to the snowboard while the top plate attaches to the boot binding and can rotate relatively to the fixed bottom plate. The final design allows a 90-degree rotation, which accommodates any riding stance. Three iterations of the final design were machined in an attempt to isolate and eliminate all flaws. Each was tested on the slopes of Mt. Wachusett, and the final iteration performed admirably under all types of riding.
