Many small villages in West Africa, like Akyem Dwenase, Ghana, remain disenfranchised and underdeveloped following colonial exploitation. To generate new economic opportunities, the team developed agricultural ecotourism markets that met the demands of consumers and supported small farming businesses. We worked with agricultural farmers to design enclosure prototypes for the sought- after products of snails, grasscutters, and honey. It was found that affordable modifications to common enclosures can increase the efficiency of rearing these animals, thus increasing supply and revenue.
