Currently, for law enforcement training exercises, a number of situational training systems are being used to simulate high stress situations. In order to better train police officers, these training systems expose the trainees to high stress scenarios to improve their skills. Many of these systems offer high quality simulations of real life law enforcement encounters at a high price, however. Throughout our project we designed and prototyped a successful firearms training robot ready for use on the range that is lower-than-market price and accessible to all police departments. Focusing on manufacturability and cost, we utilized off the shelf hobby parts where possible and only used custom parts where deemed necessary.
