Rotational Snowboard Binding

The objective of this project was to design, manufacture and test a system that allows a conventional snowboard binding to rotate. This system would help reduce the likelihood of applying injurious loads on the lower limbs during skating and ski lift loading/unloading. This design functions by using an interior cam-follower system that fits within the mounting disc area of a snowboard binding. This spring-loaded cam-follower system allows the rider to select one of two different position options: one for skating and one for riding. The system prototype was manufactured using CNC machining and was tested using a torque wrench to document its performance. The prototype was field-tested at a local ski resort and the results were analyzed to ensure the functional requirements were met.
