Purgatory Beer Company aims to “offer a wide range of styles, and constantly push limits to create unique and delicious new offerings.” Our team decided to add to their list of new offerings by refining the recipe and brewing process for a Belgium Dubbel. We conducted controlled homebrew experiments and varied the equipment, critical temperature timepoints, and the ingredients. We determined that the factors varied do have an effect on the quality of beer brewed. From our experiments, we recommend that Purgatory Brewery find similar ingredients from their bulk suppliers as used in Batch #10 and conduct their brewing process in a similar but adapted way to create the optimal Belgium Dubbel.
