Documenting and Protecting New England's Old-Growth Forests
ÖffentlichHerunterladbarer Inhalt
open in viewerOld-growth forests in New England have become exceedingly rare over the centuries but contribute greatly to biodiversity, ecological stability, and scientific knowledge. Many of these remaining forests are either unrecognized or lack protection from development. The goal of this project was to promote the preservation and appreciation for old-growth forests in New England. The state of Connecticut was chosen for mapping and documenting remaining standing old-growth forests, understanding stakeholders’ positions and preservation practices, and identifying suitability for public visitation.
