Doping in international sport -- the example of the German Democratic Republic
PublicGovernment, businesses, physicians, trainers, coaches and athletes have created an environment that tolerates and even promotes doping in sports in order to achieve political, economic and cultural goals. This report takes a sociological approach to understanding the use of doping in sports and takes a closer look at the historic example of the doping scandal that occurred in the former German Democratic Republic.
