Preliminary Evaluation of Public Rescue Equipment at Venus Bay, Victoria, Australia
Público DepositedContenido Descargable
open in viewerLife Saving Victoria (LSV) strives to save lives and empower communities to safely enjoy water through its work with communities, educational institutions, government bodies, non-government organizations, businesses and the broader aquatic industry. To improve water safety and reduce the risk of drownings in an established ‘blackspot’ location, LSV partnered with Venus Bay Surf Life Saving Club (VBSLSC) to pilot the installation of public rescue equipment stations across Venus Bay beaches 1 to 5. This Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP) directly supported Life Saving Victoria's (LSV) mission of saving lives and empowering communities to safely enjoy water. Through the conduction of surveys, interviews and further development of the ongoing public awareness campaign, a baseline of beachgoer knowledge, awareness, and attitude toward LSV's Public Rescue Equipment (PRE) pilot project was established for future comparison and analysis.
