Uncovering the Daily Realities for Those Living with Disability: What Does Accessibility Look Like in Thessaloniki?

Thessaloniki is considered the cultural capital of Greece, but the built environment is not designed with accessibility in mind. The city is home to the Thessaloniki Film Festival, hosting over 66,000 visitors annually, and MOMus Visual Arts Museums, which host contemporary exhibitions. Along with exploring the general accessibility of the city, we worked with Accessible Limitless Living to investigate ways to promote accessibility and inclusivity at these sites. Through analysis of interviews, surveys, observations, and infrastructure checklists we found narrow bathrooms, insufficient signage, and a lack of accessibility awareness. The team developed a booklet, infographics, website, and brochures showcasing accessibility implementations at the Film Festival sites.
