The purpose of this project was to investigate the use of digital photography and portable fluorescent systems for bacterial microscopy as a low-cost solution to student labs and present curriculum. Both systems were tested separately, and in conjunction. Both the camera and fluorescent systems proved to be useful tools by themselves, although there is insufficient light available through the fluorescence system for the digital camera to be effective.
