The objective of this Major Qualifying Project is to design and construct an affordable energy meter for use in the home or office. This meter will provide energy consumption information about any electrical device that plugs into a single-phase wall socket. This will show how much power and energy each devices uses, and provide a realization of the energy cost per appliance. The design and construction of this meter will incorporate aspects of digital signal processing (DSP), AC power theory, and micro-controller programming.
