The lack of water quality understanding can lead to unnecessary panic and misunderstanding in the event of a water crisis. This two-part study combines research, engineering, and communication to analyze pharmaceutical concentration in wastewater and assess the effectiveness of water quality communication. After investigating the treatment of pharmaceuticals in effluent streams of WWTPs, this study discusses community-factors that affect the success of communication in water quality reports.
