Design and fabrication of a composite FSAE chassis

Public

This project details the design of a lightweight Formula SAE chassis. The FSAE rulebook places a limit on engine size as a way to control power output. With this restriction, the logical way to make a car faster is to decrease its weight. Weight can be eliminated through the use of a more efficient design as well as lighter materials. This project used both. Due to time constraints, a model was not constructed out of carbon-fiber, although a full-scale mockup was constructed out of poster board.
