Structure/Function Characterization of Kekkon5
PublicKekkon5 is a transmembrane protein found in Drosophila melanogaster with an extracellular region comprised of leucine rich repeats (LRR) and an immunoglobulin (Ig) domain and an intracellular region containing conserved sequences whose functions are not well-understood. To further investigate the significance and function of these intracellular Short Linear Motifs (SLiMs), their conservation was assayed in species across the phylum Arthropoda and variants in which the second and third motifs were missing from Kekkon5 were generated and assayed in vivo.
