Re-Design and Testing of the WPI Kite Power System

open in viewerThe goal of this project was to upgrade the current WPI kite power system that has been in development over the past several years. Modifications to this system include; use of more stable, larger sled kites, an upgraded gear shaft, a new mechanism to change the kite angle of attack and refined data acquisition tools. Refinements were tested in the field and the lab. Tests showed our sled kites would create enough force to lift the rocker arm, generating power.
