Query-based file management

Public

Traditional file systems employ a hierarchical structure for file organization. This approach has several weaknesses: in particular, it requires users to memorize path elements in order and imposes structural limitations on file categorization. This report discusses the methodology and results of a project to design, build and user test a query-based file manager that organizes files by grouping them based on shared attributes rather than hierarchically. The report includes analysis of user feedback to the file manager.
