Design of an offshore wind turbine's superstructure in Nantucket Sound

Público

The purpose of this project was to design and evaluate two different towers to support a prototypical wind turbine for a proposed wind farm to be located on Horseshoe Shoal, in Nantucket Sound. The design parameters, for each tower height, complied with two limit states approaches: an extreme 50-year storm event, and a more frequent 10-year event. An estimated range of costs for the construction and installation of the wind farm was determined and compared with an estimate of the generated income.
