PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThis Major Qualifying Project investigated the restoration and green design of the Worcester State Hospital Nurses' Home to a state-of-the art, three-storey facility for neuropsychiatric research. It was built in 1877, and the proposed design retained the existing masonry exterior. One-way and two-way reinforced concrete systems were developed and evaluated for the interior construction. Green design included a vegetated roof system and strategies for obtaining LEED certification. Massachusetts State Building Code, the IBC and ACI 318 were referred.
