The Design, fabrication, and testing of an ultra-stable thermal platform for temperature sensor and experimental cell housing

Public

Many areas of solid and soft condensed matter physics require accurate temperature control and measurement. Some applications require only accuracy or stability to within 1 K. Others require far greater accuracy and stability, often better than ?1 mK. It was the purpose of this MQP to design, build, and test a high precision temperature controlled platform which can effectively calibrate a wide variety of temperature sensing devices in the range of ~250 to 450 K. Because the platform is designed for high thermal stability with multiple electrical connections, it will also be capable of housing various experimental cells. Such cells house any number of solids or liquids and perform isothermal adsorption, electrical, and especially thermal conductivity experiments.
