Development of testing methods for the in-situ production of oxygen from lunar regolith
ÖffentlichThe National Aeronautics and Space Administration is studying vacuum pyrolysis as a method for converting lunar regolith into oxygen and other consumables for long-term space missions. The goal of this project was to design and construct a crucible mount and concentrator for a vacuum pyrolysis system. We investigated material constraints and properties for the crucible mounting system and devised candidate designs to meet those constraints. Additionally we built the parabolic concentrator system.
