The goal of this study was to investigate the potential of plantation pochote as a source of lumber in the local supply market of Samara, Costa - Rica. The team conducted initial interviews and surveys to collect information about both the characteristics of and sentiments towards the wood. Samples of the wood were then provided to a select carpenter for further results, which would indicate if exposure to the wood improved his opinion. Through the analysis of data collected, the team found that although it is not a "luxury" wood, plantation pochote does have many applications. We estimate there to be an increased demand for it in the future due to external market pressures.
