open in viewerThe goal of our project was to recommend ways to improve that Boston Community Change (BCC) program's internal database, as well as ways to expand the program itself through integration with other card based programs. After completing a data analysis, we found the gaps in the existing database and we visually represented the data in pivot tables and maps. We recommended that the BCC collect data at point of sign up, point of sale, and in a survey administered to the merchants. The BCC may use this information to perform more efficient marketing techniques and to prove the program's success. We did a thorough research of smart cards and recommended that the BCC integrate cards with the MBTA, and possibly local colleges and youth programs.
