Material storage forecasts at Intel Massachusetts

Public

Intel Massachusetts was experiencing a capacity ramping phase which required an analysis of the manual material handling and product storage process. The microprocessor manufacturing facility was being prepared for a weekly product starts increase of more than 50% in which various changes in layout and product flow would affect the material storage needs. In this analysis, calculations involving various queuing theory principles and statistical research methodologies were used to forecast WIP volumes and to plan for material storage accordingly.
