Candida/B subtilis interaction
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerCandida albicans is a part of the gut microbiome. Overgrowth of C. albicans is associated with Crohn's Disease and Colitis. Beneficial gut microbes keep C. albicans from overgrowth. We use the model host nematode Caenorhabditis elegans to elucidate the interactions between pathogenic and beneficial gut microbes. We have identified C. albicans mutants that exhibit differential interaction with the beneficial bacteria B. subtilis to alter host lifespan. Further analysis of these genes will identify pathways that modulate microbial interactions to alter host outcomes.
