PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerCellular coverage in Acadia National Park is limited and should be improved. Enhancing connectivity will have a positive impact by enabling visitors to utilize technology for safety, education, and transportation. This project sought to actualize the goals from the NPS "Calls to Action" by measuring cellular coverage in the park. Furthermore, it sought to propose various solutions to improve the connectivity. The team measured the signal strength in decibels throughout MDI, and generated heat maps based on these data for AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Similarly, the team quantified the internet ping and speeds. The team conducted surveys to obtain public opinions regarding connectivity. Finally, the team analyzed the data and evaluated solutions for expanding coverage in Acadia National Park.
