PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe City of Eilat, Israel is planning for city-wide emergencies, including heat waves, floods, and earthquakes. The goal of this project, sponsored by the Eilat Municipality Environmental Unit, was to assess opportunities for implementing community resiliency centers to mitigate the effects of natural disasters and severe weather. We conducted comparative analyses of emergency preparedness plans from 15 other cities and conducted interviews with key stakeholders in Eilat. We identified guidelines for center operation and recommended training curricula for volunteer-based community emergency response teams.
